About Us

Families Matter opened its doors in November of 2003 in order to provide In-Home Behavioral Health Services to children and families within Southern New Jersey. Licensed clinical staff and certified behavioral assistants provide community-based counseling and behavioral support utilizing the wraparound model of community behavioral healthcare. To date, Families Matter has provided service to thousands of families in Southern New Jersey, working collaboratively with New Jersey Children’s System of Care, local schools, primary care physicians and other community-based organizations.
In March of 2008, Families Matter expanded to include a Behavioral Health Office located in Villas, New Jersey. In a accessible bayside setting, the agency provides a wide variety of behavioral health services to include mental health, substance abuse, and co-occurring group and individual counseling services. Psychiatric assessment and medication treatment services are offered. All adult, child and family services are provided by licensed clinical and medical professionals. Families Matter is licensed by the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and works collaboratively with New Jersey Superior Court, New Jersey Drug Court, the Division of Child Protection and Permanency, and the Intoxicated Driver Resource Center (IDRC) to provide quality behavioral healthcare services to those with a variety of personal, relational, and familial issues.
Families Matter accepts private insurance, Medicaid and is contracted to provide Employee Assistance Counseling, while offering a sliding fee adjustment to make services affordable for all.
On April 26, 2019 Families Matter LLC was acquired by Optimal Behavioral Health LLC and is now known as Optimal Behavioral Health dba Families Matter. Same location and excellent staff providing optimal care for the community.
